What is fibermaxxing?
Fibermaxxing (also spelled fibremaxxing) is the trend of deliberately eating more fiber: beans, lentils, chia seeds, berries and whole grains at every meal. Most adults eat far less fiber than guidelines recommend, so closing that gap is one of the simplest diet upgrades there is. Read the full guide.
FAQ
How does the fibermaxxing calculator work?
Search for each food you ate, tap + to add a serving, and adjust the amount. The calculator adds up grams of fiber using USDA data and compares the total with your daily target.
How much fiber should I eat a day?
US guidelines say 38 g for men and 25 g for women aged 19 to 50, and 30 g and 21 g after 50. The UK recommends 30 g for all adults. See fiber needs by age.
What is the fastest way to get 30 g of fiber a day?
One cup of cooked lentils gives 15.6 g. Add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds (8.3 g) and a cup of raspberries (8 g) and you are past 30 g.
Is fibermaxxing healthy?
For most people, eating up to the recommended amount is well supported by research. Going far above it quickly can cause gas, bloating and cramps, so build up over a few weeks and drink enough water.
Can I enter grams instead of cups?
Yes. Switch the units to Grams and type the exact weight of each food. The calculator uses fiber per 100 g, so any amount works.
Is my data saved?
Your foods are saved only in your own browser so they are there when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server. Shared links carry only the foods and amounts.
